What are the dates?

The Summer Bumble Bimble is on Sunday 30th June 2024.

The Winter Bumble Bimble will be announced later in 2024.

Where is the venue?

The Park Gate Inn, 178 Kidderminster Road, Bromsgrove B61 9AJ

How do I get there and park?

Car parking is free but very limited so please consider alternative means of transport if possible. As many of you live in and around Bromsgrove consider either car sharing or getting a lift to the venue. There is a small car park at the pub plus some further parking on the grass verges around the pub which can be used but please keep access clear, especially for the residential properties nearby. There’s also a layby a couple of hundred metres up the road in the direction of Bromsgrove. You could park in Sanders Park and run up the path on the Kidderminster Road. It’s 1.9km so it’s a nice warm up. Bags can be left in the event tent at the back of the pub but we can’t be responsible for loss so please don’t leave valuables in them. Wherever you park, please be considerate and be very careful crossing the busy Kidderminster Road.

When is registration, the run briefing and the start times?

  • Registration is onsite and open from 8.00am. You can leave a bag at registration, however we cannot be responsible for any items therefore please do not leave any valuables with us.
  • Here you will receive your run number. Your number must be visible on your front.
  • All competitors will receive an email with full details before the event.
  • Run briefing for the 11 mile is at 09.30 ready for a 09.45 start.
  • Run briefing for the 5 mile is at 09.45 ready for a 10.00 start.

Can I get a refund or transfer my place to another runner after I’ve paid?

No refunds or transfers are available

What are the route options?

The Summer Bumble Bimble has two options – 5 or 11 mile routes – taking in spectacular countryside. The route is marked out with arrows and supported by volunteer marshals around the course.

  • 5 Miles – approx 8km (min age 11 and be of sufficient physical fitness for the challenging course)

Starting at the Park Gate Inn, the route takes you across the beautiful Dodford countryside, into a woodland valley before entering the spectacular scenery of Nutnells Wood. Looping around the route, head over some quiet Dodford lanes and back into the valley up into the fields, back across Fockbury Road and return to the Park Gate pub for a well deserved drink!

  • 11 Miles – approx 17.7km (min age 18 and be of sufficient physical fitness for the challenging course)

Again starting at the Park Gate Inn, this route tracks the 5 mile course for the first 2.5 miles but then turns left out of Nutnells Wood into more breathtaking scenery in the Chaddesley Wood nature reserve. A new section follows a fairly steep uphill road, across more fields, through more beautiful woods followed by a lovely downhill section for tired legs. Then head across a bridle path before a welcoming road descent towards the Dodford village hall. Another steep incline, then back down to the valley before you reach “the woodland steps” and you’re not far from the finish!

How tough is the run?

The terrain cannot be compared to running on the road. It’s a challenging course and takes approximately an extra 20% effort/time to complete. It’s mostly trails with stiles, kissing gates, fields, mud, woodland and long grass. Very little road use, very undulating with steep areas as well as some downhill breathers. Expect to get dirty!

  • Please remember this is a challenging course that cannot be compared to running on the road.

Are there any water stations?

Yes, at approx 2.5 miles and 7miles. Please do not discard any plastic bottles or gel wrappers etc on the route. In order to reduce waste onsite we recommend that you bring your own hydration.

Do I need trail shoes?

Trail shoes are usually recommended but it depends on the weather at the time. Check up-to-date weather forecasts to decide. There are some steep banks and muddy sections.

Are there any age limits?

For the 5 mile route runners must be 11 years or over and accompanied by an adult on the course.

For the 11 mile route runners must be 18 years or over.

Will you post out my run number?

No, you will receive this at registration onsite.

Can I run with my dog?

Yes, but only one dog per runner and they need to be kept under control, on leads and away from the livestock on the course at all times. There are plenty of stiles to test your dog’s agility!  Some of them have “dog doors”, many don’t, so if your dog isn’t particularly agile, or you’re unable to lift them over, the route may not be appropriate. Please make sure you have poo bags and dispose of them responsibly.

Will there be first aid onsite?

Yes, medics will be supporting the event throughout.

Is there any food or drink available?

Yes, please join us at the After Party!

The run starts and ends at the fantastic Park Gate Inn serving local real ales, ciders and food. http://www.parkgateinn.co.uk

Bring some clean clothes/shoes to change into for the post run party! This is the perfect opportunity to relax in post run glory with your running buddies overlooking the beautiful countryside views.

Will I receive a medal and time?

Can I volunteer?

Yes! If you’re unable to run then you can still take part. Our event couldn’t take place without the support of our amazing volunteers. There are several roles available including – marshals directing you on the course; helping at water stations; at the start/finish line and running marshals assisting participants. Anyone volunteering will be offered a free place in a future Bumble Bimble event as a thank you. If you’d like to help out please contact us via email or our Facebook page.
